03 Sep The Noble Bolt-01 Award Returns…
We’ve made many friends over the years at Lawless – people who become more than attendees, people who become integral to the running of the show. Bolt-01, or Dave Evans, was one such character. He was the first to put together a Lawless programme focused around the fanzine Zarjaz. We’d email on and off throughout the year and suddenly he’d produced yet another fantastic reprint of Dredd classics focused around our panel listing centrefold. He came to the show as a trader a few times, he knew everyone and everyone was pleased to know him.
Colin Noble was one of those online friends who was on board with Lawless as soon as he heard about it. His artist knowledge along helped us secure some of our earlier guests and he got full on involved with our Online Lawless post covid. He was one of those guys who’d always wanted to come to the show, but circumstances never allowed it.
We lost both of these friends of Lawless far too soon, and their loss was felt throughout the community. I think Colin Nobles significant comic collection is STILL being auctioned off for charity to this day! Zarjaz still has an audience and continues to be produced on a not for profit basis.
Having lost these friends to our community, on top of the deaths of the wonderful Carlos Ezquerra and Ian Gibson, made me want to push Lawless further for the fanbase. I wanted to show our appreciation to these friends for the work that they did and the love that they shared.
What else could we do, what could we offer that would bring smiles to faces. How do we bring people to the show that have always wanted to come, but never been able to make it?
And so, the Noble-Bolt-01 Award was created.
If you know someone whose always wanted to come to Lawless but, for whatever reason, has just never been able to make it, then we’ll cover the ticket, transport and hotel for One Nominated Person and get them to the show.
