2026 was a fantastic year at Lawless Comic Con. I can’t believe this is our twelfth year! Everyone reading this raise your hand and say after me: “We’re NOT too old for this shit!”
We had a lovely selection of creators this, welcoming back some regular faces and introducing some new recruits into the fold. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Tula Lotay, Silvia Califano, and Leigh Gallagher for the first time and it was great to welcome back Robbie Morrison. We had some new moderators for our panels this year too – Sha Nazir and Matty Stokes provided some lovely discussions. Liam Sharp returned to the show this ear to exhibit his collection of 40 Years in the industry! I do like using the space to provide a quiet and up close and personal viewing of beautiful art.
As always, the Draw Off is always the funniest part of the afternoon. Its always a tough one to try and fit in – surprisingly, quite a few creators don’t like to quick draw on a giant flip pad against the clock in front of a cheering audience! So its not something we get to do every year, but its always worth it when we manage to!
The Lawless Community is instrumental in helping this convention come together. We still function via the old fashioned Facebook Group and find the best of our engagement comes via suggestions made in the comments. We crowd source our Guest List and Panel Discussion ideas, and the community word of mouth has kept this little convention firmly in the fanbase calendar for over a decade!
We’d love to hear your suggestions for our 2027 show! It’s the 50th Anniversary of 2000AD, so I think we should make this one the ‘Unofficial 2000AD Party’! We definitely have plans in the works – there’ll certainly be another Exhibition, and the evening may involve load music…
